Our strategy highlights how the primary ministries of the church interface to fulfill our mission and incorporate the six basic purposes of teaching/ discipleship, fellowship, worship, prayer, ministry and missions/outreach, as described in the introduction.

Life Groups

Small fellowship groups, which we call Life Groups, are a very important part of Prairie Ridge Community Church. In the Life Groups the members discuss God’s word and personal questions, pray together and help each other in a variety of ways. They worship God together, experience God’s power at work in the group and support the work of God in the lives of each other. The group members build up each other in love using their gifts, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our emphasis in all of this is on the practical application of truth, character development, and the presence and power of Christ in our lives.

Biblically, the church is also like a family and the Life Group is where we can best promote and experience the family element.

Our Life Groups also provide a context for friendship evangelism and helping new church attendees to become a part of Prairie Ridge Christian Church. Joining a Life Group will help you get more involved, build quality friendships, and help you grow in your Christian life.

The Life Groups are a catalyst for evangelism as we pray for our friends and neighbors, coordinate group efforts to reach out to others, and stimulate each other to befriend people and communicate the gospel.

Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship is the corporate time of worship, praise, and teaching. It is our main teaching time and builds up the church members through public ministry. It fuels and encourages the Life Groups. A variety of supporting activities and ministries contribute to its success (Sunday School, child care, ushering, music).

In our Sunday morning worship service we teach foundational truths for Christian living and discipleship, and important Bible topics, and present them in practical and interesting ways. Our goal is to build people up with God’s word, encourage them in their personal lives, and motivate them for ministry and evangelism, with an emphasis again on character and obedience.

In our music and worship on Sunday we want to publicly celebrate the Lord and our blessings in Christ. Our goal is to get people encouraged and create an atmosphere of enthusiasm.

Our Sunday morning worship service also contributes to outreach and evangelism. Our music is contemporary and upbeat, and our messages are relevant and practical. Because of our style members can bring their unchurched friends at any time. Periodically we have interesting messages that address important needs that are common to Christians and non-Christians alike. People will be warmly welcomed and our ushers, greeters, Sunday School and child care personnel will be hospitable and professional, providing a positive experience for both members and guests. Over all we want to make Christ attractive and promote the gospel for salvation and Christian living.

Two or three times a year we will mail promotional materials to the community. In this way we can introduce ourselves to people we otherwise would not have met. We can promote any special message series we are presenting, our activities, our people and the gospel. This will help our friendship evangelism as we meet people who have already been introduced to our church through the mailings and have received a positive first impression. The mailings also serve as invitations to those interested in visiting our church.

Equipping Ministries

The Equipping Ministries help us to do specific training and address needs that cannot be addressed as well in a Life Group or on a Sunday morning. A variety of activities fall under this ministry category. They include classes and seminars, retreats, conferences, periodic all church prayer times, and LC (Leadership Community - the meeting of the leaders of our Life Groups and ministries for leadership training and managing the church and its ministries). Topics for these events may include: finances, marriage and family, missions, men’s / women’s issues, advanced Bible training, leadership, etc.

Bridge Ministries

Bridge Ministries play a very important role at Prairie Ridge. They design events and activities that new church visitors can attend to get to know more people at Prairie Ridge Community Church. This helps them get acquainted, begin to feel at home, and get more involved in the life of the church. In this way these activities serve as a bridge. For people who do not know Christ, their participation in an activity introduces them to the church and to other Christians. As friendships are made we have an opportunity to serve them and communicate the gospel. Bridge events also provide enjoyable fellowship times for the church.

Examples of Bridge Ministries and bridge events are:

Some of the activities serve as both an equipping event and a bridge event. The Saturday breakfasts and the retreat sponsored by Women’s Breakfast Club, for example, offer support and training for women on women’s issues (an equipping function) and at the same time provide a fun fellowship time and a chance for new people to get better acquainted with the church (a bridge function).
