To understand the background of our pastors and church leaders, you need to know a little of our process for training Christians in maturity and ministry.

Our purpose at Prairie Ridge is to bring people into membership in God’s eternal family, build them up to maturity, involve them in ministry and prayer, and prepare them for a life of mission and worship for the glory of God. Beyond local evangelism, shepherding the body and building people toward maturity, our contribution to the Great Commission is to train leaders (within the church itself) to start and develop churches.

At Prairie Ridge, we are working toward quality training in God’s word with obedience as a focus, training in ministry skills, practical experience for leaders, and an emphasis on character. Our Life Groups, the Sunday service, and our Equipping ministries (conferences and classes) work together to accomplish this task. We desire all our members to capture a vision to influence our city with the gospel and to participate in fulfilling the Great Commission locally and world wide. We are working to equip members to have a personal vision in this area and actively team up with others toward that end.

Mentoring through close friendships and sacrificial love for one another is an important part of our discipleship and training. There are steps in the process of a person’s growth as we disciple them, and our activities and ministries are used in certain ways.

Our desire for every individual at Prairie Ridge is to help them grow to maturity in Christ. Their relationship with God, their faith, their soundness of character and doctrine, the quality of their marriage and family life, and their love for people and desire to minister to others are all part of becoming mature in Christ.

Our approach to ministry, and all of our activities, are designed to provide each individual with a complete discipleship experience, including teaching, fellowship, worship, prayer, ministry and evangelism. We encourage each person to aspire to Christian maturity, by the grace of God. Among those individuals, some will aspire to leadership at Prairie Ridge in various capacities.

Our pastors have been trained through this process and are men who have come from within our own church and meet the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy and Titus (of the New Testament). This is our pattern for training and ordaining pastors, and it is the pattern for the Great Commission Association of Churches in general.
